Chief Meteorologist Ross Janssen says that most of the state will see more mild weather on Thursday. However, a strong cold front moving through Thursday afternoon will be the start of a cold spell that settles in for the weekend and beyond.

Skies will be partly cloudy into Thursday morning with lows in the 30s. Highs will recover to the 50s and 60s Thursday afternoon with mostly sunny skies. The winds will be turning to the north and could be gusty for several hours into Thursday night.

Watch for some icy weather early Friday, especially over southern Kansas. Across central and northern Kansas, chances for snow will be increasing. Some areas could see accumulating snow by Friday afternoon and evening. Cold weather will return and stick around through the weekend.
