12 cities hold statewide job fair

TOPEKA, Kan. (KWCH) The Kansas Department of Commerce and Kansas Workforce Centers will host a state-wide job fair.

This is the state's biggest job fair and probably the best opportunity to help job seekers get an interview.

The job fair is from 2 to 6 p.m. in 12 different locations across the state. It's a unique opportunity for job seekers and employers to meet face-to-face.

It's also a chance to see just how many job are available in your area.

“The Statewide Job Fair offers a wonderful opportunity to match Kansas employers with the skilled and valuable employees they need to fill their crucial positions,” said Robert North, Interim Secretary of the Kansas Department of Commerce.

If you're planning on checking out the job fair, you'll want to make sure you're interview ready.

A spokeswoman for the workforce centers says you should bring several copies of your updated resume. She also says to dress the part and be prepared for an on-the-spot interview.

There are several employers attending each of the 12 events across the state. Some here in Wichita include Saint Francis Community Services, The Social Security Administration, and Textron Aviation.

"We will have quite a range of jobs that are available and employers that are here hiring. The best thing to do is to go onto our website ahead of time, look at the employers and kind of do a little bit of research and see what those companies do and you can kind of get a good idea of what jobs will be available," says Angie Duntz.
