Survey finds fecal matter on every McDonald's touchscreen it tested

A burger and fries may not be the only thing you are picking up when you use those new touchscreens at McDonald’s. A new study by the Metro found fecal matter on every one it tested.

it swabbed multiple kiosks around the U.K. and found every one of them had coliforms. One of the screens, it said, tested positive for staphylococcus. A doctor called that discovery “worrying because it is so contagious.”

The doctor, Dr. Paul Matewele, recommended to Metro that with the increasing use of touch screens in daily life people should not eat food immediately after using the screens.

The website noted McDonald’s does clean the screens, but Matewele said the cleaner “could not have been strong enough.”

“Our self-order screens are cleaned frequently throughout the day. All of our restaurants also provide facilities for customers to wash their hands before eating,” a McDonald’s representative told the Metro.
