HAYS, Kan. (KWCH) A suspect wanted for sex crimes southwest of Hays has been found dead.
The Hays Police Department took the report of a possible aggravated burglary and sexual assault in the SW part of Hays in the early morning hours of July 14, 2019.
Through their investigation, detectives identified a possible suspect, and a search warrant was obtained from the Ellis County District Court to search the home of the suspect for evidence of the alleged crimes.
The Hays Police Department’s Special Situation Response Team served the search warrant July 14, 2019, at 8:14 p.m., and found the suspect dead from an apparent suicide.
The Hays Police Department and Kansas Bureau of Investigations are assisting the Ellis County Coroner’s Office with the death investigation.
