BARTON COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) A 15-year-old boy is dead, and two others hospitalized after a crash east of Great Bend Wednesday night.

The crash happened around 10:39 p.m. on US 56, near mile marker 208.

The Barton County Sheriff's Office says a white 2006 Dodge ram pickup was eastbound on US 56 when it crossed left of center and collided with a black 2003 Ford F250 headed westbound.

Sheriff Brian J. Bellendir believes the Dodge may have been attempting to pass at the time of the collision.

Investigators say Wyatt Henke, who was a passenger in the Dodge, died from injuries sustained in the crash. Two others were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their condition is not known at this time.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office believes alcohol was not a contributing factor in the crash.
