Textron Aviation requests industrial revenue bonds, considers job growth

WICHITA, Kan. Textron Aviation is asking the City of Wichita for more industrial revenue bonds as it anticipates work that, depending on several key factors, could add about 250 jobs to its approximate 9,000-employee workforce in Wichita and Sedgwick County.

The plane maker's request for $434 million in bonds is part of the Wichita City Council's agenda for its meeting Tuesday (Feb. 13). Of the total, $24 million would go toward the company's buildings in Wichita and improvements.

The other money would go toward furniture, fixtures, tools and other items, Textron says.

The company has agreed to pay the cost of issuing the bonds and administrative fees.
