Home heavily damaged, pets killed in W. Wichita house fire

WICHITA, Kan. Crews with the Wichita Fire Department put out a fire to a home in west Wichita Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the call made about 3:30 p.m. in the 400 block of North Pamela Avenue near Central and Tyler.

Sedgwick County dispatch says EMS also responded to treat two people injured at the scene. Both people were treated at the scene for cuts and smoke inhalation.

Wichita Fire Batallion Chief Lane Pearman says a number of cats and a couple of dogs died.

Pearman says the home where the fire started "is a complete loss." He says crews heard small explosions when they first arrived on the scene and most of the fire was located in the garage area.

Pearman says fire investigators are working to pinpoint what caused the fire.
