BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. Monday's canvassing tightened an already close vote, but the final result stands: The Remington school district's $9.975 million bond issue passes. The final result shows 561 votes in support of the bond issue to 547 votes against it.
The bond will provide secured entrances at all schools in the district northeast of Wichita, storm shelters at Remington High School and the district's elementary school, as well as new multipurpose rooms.
It will also allow for construction of a new gym at the high school.
With the bond issue's passage, residents in the district can expect to pay about $90.85 annually in property taxes. This comes out to $7.57 extra per month on a $100,000 home.
