Wichita Police Department Service Dog Major is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois. He has been with the department since 2017.

Major, accompanied by his human partner Officer Kevin Dykstra, demonstrated how he detects narcotics and responds to a variety of verbal commands.

During the demonstration, Major was presented with a special ribbon to thank him for his service to the Wichita community.

“With so many people here having owned and loved dogs throughout their lives, opportunities to promote this special connection are very important,” said Chisholm Place Executive Director Melissa Dinsmore. “Discovering Major’s talents and contributions to the public will be a wonderfully enriching experience for our residents.”

Chisholm Place is operated by Anthem Memory Care.
