WPD: Pregnant woman shot, man beaten in S. Wichita home invasion

A pregnant woman was hospitalized after being shot late Tuesday in south Wichita. The incident happened just before 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of S. Battin.

Police say a man and woman were sitting in an apartment when three men forcefully entered. The 22-year-old woman was shot in the arm during the incident. She was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The woman and her baby are expected to be okay. The 29-year-old man was not seriously injured.

Police say the victims were not cooperative with officers, so they do not have a description of the intruders. Police are investigating whether the incident was drug-related.

“Right now we're still investigating, we've talked to several witnesses,” said Lt. Todd Ojile. “The case will be sent to higher up to see if we can get a little more cooperation.”

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
