Wichita State recognizes local paralympian

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Wichita State recognized a local paralympian on Tuesday.

Nick Taylor took home a silver medal in Rio. He works as the volunteer operations director for the Shocker tennis program.

The school planted an Olympic oak tree in Taylor's honor.

"I've got a tree that will be here for a while. I roll right by it every day so I'll definitely check up on it all the time," said Taylor.

Taylor's first appearance in the Paralympics was back in 2004.

He brought home gold in tennis doubles in 2004, 2008 and 2012. At the London games, he brought home a bronze in tennis singles.
