Sex offender accused of kidnapping 8-year-old girl at W. Wichita motel

Wichita police arrested a registered sex offender after a woman said he kidnapped her 8-year-old daughter.

The incident happened around noon on Sunday at the White Glove Inn at 11430 W. Kellogg.

Police say the 30-year-old woman called 911 to report her eight-year-old daughter was outside playing with her 8-year-old cousin when a man pulled the woman's daughter into a shed against her will.

The woman said her daughter screamed and the man ran away.

Officers were able to identify 39-year-old Daniel Withrow as the suspect and arrest him on one charge of kidnapping.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

Eyewitness News looked into Withrow's past. According to the

, he was convicted of aggravated indecent liberties and fondling a child less than 14 years old.

His other convictions were for drugs and weapons charges. He was released from prison in 2015.
