Police investigate after man shot, suspect flees in SE Wichita
The Wichita Department investigates a Thursday night shooting in southeast Wichita that sent a 25-year-old man to a local hospital for treatment to a gunshot wound to his body. Police say the man, found at a business at 31st Street South and Hillside, had an injury they saw was non-life-threatening.
This started police say, at about 9:50 p.m. when tow officers on patrol heard several shots fired in the 3800 block of East Ross Parkway. They then responded to the report of a shooting in that area.
"Upon arrival, officers located blood evidence and a shell casing on Ross Parkway street," police say.
This discovery led to the man being found at the nearby business. Police say the investigation revealed the wounded man had met two woman on a dating app and agreed to meet them in-person along with his friend in the 3800 block of East Parkway "to engage in drug activity."
"As (the man) was standing outside of his vehicle, he was approached by an unknown suspect who pushed him and then fired a shot, striking him," police say. "The suspect fled, and the victim and his friend drove to the business at 31st and Hillside.
