A special event promoting the importance of literacy brought a learning opportunity mixed with fun to third and fourth graders in Wichita Thursday.

Storytime Village kicked off National Literacy Month Thursday with a basketball game at Charles Koch Arena on Wichita State University's campus.

The event featured the Wichita Police Department and Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office. The game's halftime entertainment included a story-time rap from WPD Chief Gordon Ramsay.
