Wichita teen injured in drive-by shooting released from hospital

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Friday morning

Wichita police say a 17-year-old shot near Woodland Park Thursday night has been released from the hospital.

The teen tells police he was walking in the 2100 block of N. Shelton when a red pickup drove by with two people inside. Someone shot multiple times from the truck the teen was hit.

The teen called 911 from a nearby home.

Police say they believe the shooting to be gang-related. They don't have any suspect information.

Wichita teen is in critical condition following a shooting near Riverside.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of N. Shelton around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday. They arrived to find a 17-year-old with two gunshot wounds to his torso.

Police say the teen told them he was walking in the area when an older model truck drove by and the men inside started firing their guns.

Police say, as far as they know, the teen and the suspects do not know each other.

The teen was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
