Wichita woman pleads guilty to deadly attack on dog

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Wichita woman accused in the deadly beating of a dog last November pleaded guilty to the charges against her on Monday.

Carlett McPherson, 31, is charged with a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals and was sentenced to six months of probation. She must also pay the veterinary bill.

Wichita police arrested McPherson on November 16, 2018, after responding to a suspicious character with a weapon call in the 1000 block of N. Poplar.

They were told someone was beating a dog and releasing other dogs to attack victim dog.

Officers arrived and worked to separate the animals. Three aggressive dogs were controlled. The victim dog, Smokey, was taken to an animal hospital and died from its injuries.
