WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Wichitans attempted to break a world record Saturday afternoon.
The event was held at the Towne East Square Dillard's. More than 70 people applied sunscreen simultaneously with people at other Dillard's stores across the country.
Organizers say the event was in honor of skin cancer awareness month.
Unfortunately in Wichita, not as many people showed up as organizers would have liked.
"We were hoping to break the record just in our own store, but I think the weather played a little bit of a part in that as well," said Laura Hannah, Dillard's assistance store manager.
The company needed more than 2,000 people participating nationally to break the record. Everyone in attendance applied the lotion for 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
