Winter moves in Thursday

By  |

Meteorologist Jake Dunne says a powerful cold front is moving across the state. Ahead of the front, temperatures are in the 60s and 70s, but behind the front temperatures are falling into the 30s and 40s. The Wichita area will see temperatures around 70 degrees at 10 A.M. fall into the upper 40s by 5 P.M. A strong NW wind between 20 and 30 mph will make it feel even colder.

Snow showers in western Kansas tonight won’t amount to much in terms of accumulation, perhaps a dusting, but a few slick spots are possible on area roads late tonight and Friday morning. Central Kansas will see a mix of rain and snow showers overnight with no accumulation expected.

After a frigid Friday morning in the 20s and 30s, including wind chills in the teens, sunny skies will take temperatures into the 40s and 50s during the afternoon. However, those numbers are 20 to 25 degrees below normal.

Sunshine sticks around all weekend and temperatures will respond by warming into the 60s and 70s.
