Woman critically hurt in Cowley County mower accident

A woman is hurt after becoming trapped under a tractor in Cowley County.

The Cowley County Sheriff's Office says emergency crews were called to the 4000 block of 307th Road shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

When crews got there, the woman had been freed from under a large mower and someone had begun performing CPR.

The woman, identified as 59-year-old Virginia Emmons, was flown to Wesley Hospital for treatment.

The Sheriff says Emmons was riding on a mower that had become stuck in some mud. Another person used a truck and chain to pull the mower out, but at some point, the mower flipped and pinned Emmons underneath.

The Cowley County Courier reports she is in critical condition.

The incident remains under investigation.
