HUTCHINSON, Kan (Hutchinson CC FB) Off to a 4-1 start, the Hutchinson Community College football team has moved into the NJCAA Top 10 for the first time this season.

Following an 82-0 victory over RPA last Thursday at Gowans Stadium, the Blue Dragons moved up four spots to No. 7 in the NJCAA Rankings.

The seventh-ranked Blue Dragons continue their September gauntlet with a road trip on Saturday to No. 12 Butler in a 7 p.m. kickoff at BG Products Stadium in El Dorado.

The last time Hutch was ranked in the NJCAA Top 10 was October 17, 2017 when the Blue Dragons reached No. 9. The last time that Hutch was ranked as high as No. 7 was two seasons ago when the Dragons reached all the way up to No. 6 on Sept. 13.

Four Jayhawk Conference teams still remain in poll consideration, led by Garden City, which knocked off No. 2 Iowa Western last week at Broncbusters Stadium. The 4-0 Busters are now No. 2 in the rankings. Highland, at 3-1) is just out of the Top 20 in the receiving votes list. With losses last week, Independence and Coffeyville are no longer being mentioned.

East Mississippi garnered all 17 first-place votes in this week’s rankings. The Top 5 as East Mississippi, Garden City, Northwest Mississippi, Scottsdale and Iowa Western.
