Wichita, Kan. -
After finishing just inside of the top 20 at the Newton Tournament of Champions, Bishop Carroll faced Wichita Southeast in a City League dual and came out with a key 48-28 league victory.
"A lot of guys stepped up and got some falls," Golden Eagles coach J.D. Johnson said. "We had some momentum fall in our direction and we went from there."
The Buffaloes took two of the first three matches, but Bishop Carroll responded by taking the next six matches and three coming by falls.
Those were highlighted by Peyton Maddox (145) and Ryan Murphy (152) who came away with two quick pins.
"Any time you dual in the City League, you want to come away with a win," Johnson said. "When you can come in against any team in this league and come away with a win, it's important and it helps us build momentum for the postseason with the City League meet, regionals and state."
