Dean Wade says Wildcats won't be using 'travel' as motivation

MANHATTAN, Kan. (KWCH) -- The No. 12-ranked Kansas Jayhawks will look to make it 12-straight wins inside Allen Fieldhouse against its in-state rival when Kansas State comes to Lawrence for the Dillons Sunflower Showdown on Saturday, Jan. 13.

This will be the 287th meeting between the two programs, with Kansas boasting a 193-93 advantage in the series, which includes 54 wins in the last 59 matchups.

The last matchup ended in a controversial no-call on a potential travel by Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk.

Kansas State junior forward and St. John native Dean Wade said the team remembers that play, but won't need it as any extra motivation.

"I don't think it's motivation. We had chances to win and we just didn't do it last year," he said. "It's a rivalry game an in-state game. I've been watching these KU-K-State games since I couldn't even tell you how old and they've been crazy the past few years and I hope we go in there and play good. It will be a good game."

Tip-off is set for 11 a.m., on ESPN.
