MANHATTAN, Kan (KWCH) - Kansas State redshirt freshman quarterback John Holcombe II will be transferring from the program, he announced on Twitter Tuesday night.
The Wildcats backup QB has seen time in three games this season, attempting just three passes but rushing for 82 yards on on 13 attempts as a change of pace from incumbent Skylar Thompson.
In his statement, Holcombe says "though my time here was brief, in these short two years, you have brought me nothing but joy. The fan base, the atmosphere, the students and even the professors."
He continues to say that he wishes his "brothers nothing but the best for the rest of the season and will happily be cheering them on, but it is my time to part ways."
Holcombe came to Kansas State as the #13 dual-threat quarterback according for 247sports for the 2018 class, playing his high school ball at Summer Creek out of Texas.
