KU defeats K-State in round 2 of Sunflower Showdown

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KWCH) It's been 36 years since K-State swept the season series, and the Wildcats had the chance to go into Lawrence and snap the streak of 14 straight titles for their rivals. But that wouldn't happen Monday night.

Kansas came out perfect at Allen Fieldhouse. The "Hawks defeated the 'Cats 62 to 49 in the second round of the Sunflower Showdown.

The Wildcats started off with the lead early on in the game, but the Jayhawks led the way at halftime, 34-27 and never looked back.

Both teams remain relevant in the contest to win the Big 12 title.

Kansas takes on OSU in Stillwater on Saturday at 11 a.m.

K-State hosts Baylor back at Bramlage later that evening at 7 p.m.
