Kings waive former KU star Mason

The Kansas Jayhawks played the Michigan State Spartans at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 during the second round of the 2017 NCAA Basketball Tournament. The Jayhawks defeated the Spartans 90 - 70 and move on to the Sweet Sixteen in Kansas City.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento Kings announced today that the team has waived guard Frank Mason III.

In two seasons with the Kings, Mason has accrued averages of 6.8 points (.392 FG%, .300 3pt%, .773 FT%), 1.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 15.8 minutes per game.

The former National Player of the Year with the Jayhawks issued a statement on Twitter thanking the Kings for his time with the team.

According to NBC Sports California, Mason will still play for the Kings in the NBA Summer as he searches for his new NBA home.
