TORONTO, ON. -- Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas took his place in the franchise's record books Wednesday night, breaking a three-week home run drought to stand alone atop the Royals' single-season home run list.

Moustakas hit home run No. 37 Wednesday, breaking the prior single-season record of 36 he'd shared with Steve Balboni. Balboni held the franchise home run record since 1985.

Moustakas' solo home run came in a route for the Royals, who were already up 12-0 on the Blue Jays in the top of the sixth inning in Toronto when he launched the ball into the stands.

Royals top Blue Jays 15-5.
