Shockers simulate big game feel against Oklahoma State

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) -- Wichita State will host Oklahoma State Thursday night at 5pm at Wilkins Stadium. It is the third exhibition game of the fall slate. The Shockers have outscored their first two opponents this fall, 32-3, in victories over Avila (19-1) and Crowder (13-2).

The Shockers swept the Cowgirls in the 2018 spring season, defeating the then-24th ranked team 5-3 in Stillwater, and then-19th ranked team 9-6 at home in the regular season. Wichita State also eliminated Oklahoma State in the Fayetteville NCAA Regional, 8-2 and 5-4.

Head Coach Kristi Bredbenner said she's been finding ways to motivate her team during preseason games, but that shouldn't be a problem this week against the Cowgirls.

"It's something they will get fired up for," she said. "You know, it'll be a little bit more of an electric atmosphere, a little bit more of a college atmosphere that they'll see in the spring."

Bredbenner intends to use all of her pitchers against Oklahoma State and hopes to get as many at-bats during the 10-inning format.

"We're going to give everybody a chance to play, I think that's something we really focused on this past weekend," she said. "Making sure all of the at-bats are even, I think the most somebody had was nine, the least somebody had was seven. We're giving everybody a chance to show us what they can do."
