PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sunday’s winner-take-all matchup between No. 10-ranked Cincinnati and No. 11 Wichita State delivered a 1.4/4 metered market overnight HH rating/share on CBS Sports, making it the highest-rated American Athletic Conference game on CBS in the five-year history of the league.
The game, which saw Cincinnati take a 62-61 victory in front of a sellout crowd at Wichita State’s Koch Arena, was the second-highest-rated college basketball game in a weekend noon window on CBS’ national platform this season, as measured by overnight ratings. It had eight ties and eight lead changes before Cincinnati delivered a defensive stop in the closing seconds to claim the outright American Athletic Conference regular-season championship.
Sunday’s game drew a 8.9/20 share in Cincinnati, ranking as the No. 1-rated market for the game.
Cincinnati and Wichita State earned the top two seeds for the 2018 Aaron’s American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship, which begins Thursday at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Television coverage will be on ESPNU and ESPN2 for Thursday’s first round and Friday’s quarterfinals before CBS Sports produces Saturday’s semifinal and Sunday’s final in advance of the NCAA Championship Selection Show.
