'Voice of the Jayhawks' Max Falkenstien dies at 95

LAWRENCE, Kan. A University of Kansas legend dies at the age of 95.

KU Athletics announced Monday that Max Falkenstein, "the voice of the Jayhawks," died at the age of 95. Falkenstien broadcast Kansas football and men's basketball games for 60 years, the university says.

Falkenstien broadcast his first basketball game on March 18, 1946. He provided play-by-play for his first football game about six months later, KU Athletics says. Falkenstien retired in 2006.

Among Falkenstien's honors, Kansas Athletics made him the only non-play to have a jersey (No. 60) displayed in the rafters of Allen Field
