WICHITA, Kan. The Wichita State men's basketball team will head south of the border in the early portion of next season as par of the 2019 Cancun Challenge.

Wichita State says the Shockers face South Carolina Tuesday, Nov. 26 and either West Virginia or Northern Iowa Nov. 27. This group makes up the four-team Riviera Division and both games the Shockers play will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Prior to the trip to Cancun, Wichita State hosts UT Martin and Gardner Webb in preliminary round contests Saturday, Nov. 16 and Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Next season marks Wichita State's second appearance in the Cancun Challenge. In 2012, Shocker head coach Gregg Marshall guided WSU to the Cancun Challenge title with wins over Depaul and Iowa.

Wichita State says the Shockers are 1-0 all-time against Gardner Webb, but has never played UT-Martin, South Carolina or West Virginia.

Northern Iowa is a much more familiar opponent, as a former conference rival to WSU in the Missouri Valley Conference. All-time, Wichita State and Northern Iowa have split 56 meetings.

A connection with West Virginia comes with transfer Teddy Allen, expected to play for the Shockers next year after sitting out this season. Allen transferred to WSU from West Virginia after playing his freshman season for the Mountaineers.
