Wichita Wizards bring minor league basketball to town

(MLBA)

WICHITA, Kan. (RELEASE) Basketball fans may soon have another team to watch in Wichita.

The Wichita Wizards announced Monday their plan to begin playing in Wichita in April 2019.

The Wizards are part of an expansion in the MLBA (Minor League Basketball Association) which formed in August 2017.

The Wizards will play the Red River Valley Conference against teams from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and possibly others as the league continues to approve of new teams.

A release from the Wichita Wizards says the team will be comprised of mostly local talent from the Wichita area and surrounding communities.

Mark Creed, the team's owner, says the team currently has no home court. He says they're currently in negotiations with local venues.

Tryouts are scheduled to be announced soon on the Wichita Wizards Facebook page.
