Some living in El Dorado found themselves moments away from the large grassfire that sparked Friday.

The university's Office of Diversity and Inclusion sponsored the event held annually on March 31.

Strong winds and low humidity fueled fires that prompted evacuations, power outages and road closures.

On top of the lower humidity, it's been winds like this that have helped wildfires spread so quickly.

Those who live near El Dorado have been allowed back into their homes, but not before fire destroyed at least one building and forced evacuations.

In partnership with Friends University, the program allows students to start classes for college credit the summer before their sophomore year.
