Bicyclist critically injured in Reno County crash

RENO COUNTY, Kan. A 28-year-old Hutchinson man was airlifted to a Wichita hospital Sunday afternoon after a crash involving a pickup truck and a bicycle near Hutchinson.

Reno County dispatch says the crash occurred about 12:27 p.m. at Old K-61 and 69th Street. The bicyclist was the only person injured in the crash.

The Reno County Sheriff's Office says a 21-year-old Hutchinson man reports he was driving his pickup north on Old 61 and that shortly after he passed 69th Street, his passenger side mirror struck the man riding the bicycle north on Old 61.

The bicyclist, identified by the Sheriff's Department as 28-year-old Brett Brillhart, was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the sheriff's office says. The driver of the pickup was not injured.
