Vance set to make first stop in Nevada as Republican vice presidential nominee
The Ohio Republican senator is scheduled to hold two campaign rallies Tuesday.
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - On Tuesday, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) will get to introduce himself to voters on one of the nation’s key battleground states.
The Republican vice presidential nominee will visit Nevada for the first time since he was nominated two weeks ago. Former President Donald Trump’s running mate is scheduled to talk at Liberty High School in Henderson in the afternoon before heading north to speak at the Reno Sparks Convention Center.
According to the Trump Vance Campaign, “As Vice President, JD Vance will help President Trump fight to ease the financial pressures placed on households and re-establish law and order in Nevada!”
Vance’s visit is happening as he faces criticism about past comments he has made about women including Vice President and presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris.
“With the vice president leading our party as our nominee, she’s the most prepared and qualified person to defeat Donald Trump, to govern into the future. And people are behind that,” said Rep. Steven Horsford (D-Nev.).
Horsford, the Congressional Black Caucus chair, recognizes the historic launch of Harris’ campaign but says Democrats are not taking anything for granted.
According to The Hill, average polling shows Trump leading Harris by nearly nine points in Nevada.
