GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KWCH) - It’s been 30 years since Rachel Pratt disappeared from her home in Garden City, Kansas, under suspicious circumstances, and the Garden City Police Department (GCPD) is still seeking answers. The case, which has remained unsolved since January 16, 1995, has continued to haunt both law enforcement and the community.

Rachel was last seen around 1:00 a.m. on that fateful day. According to the GCPD, the only thing she took with her was a coat. At first, authorities believed she may have run away, but Rachel was never heard from again.

“In current days, when we have a runaway, they usually come back,” said Erinn Reyes, Public Information Officer for the GCPD. “If they leave stuff behind, they typically return. But in this case, she didn’t, and we haven’t heard from her since.”

Several people reported possible sightings of Rachel following her disappearance, but none were ever confirmed. Adding to the mystery was the fact that Rachel had been set to testify as a witness against her boyfriend, who was facing charges for unlawful sexual relations with her. After Rachel went missing, those charges were dropped, further raising suspicions about the circumstances of her disappearance.

“There are various factors that make us believe she disappeared under suspicious circumstances, and we have not heard from her since,” said Reyes.

Now, three decades later, the GCPD is revisiting the case in hopes that someone with information might come forward.

“Her case is not just sitting on a bookshelf collecting dust,” Reyes said. “This case matters to us. All of our cases matter, and at the end of the day, we’re holding out hope that she’s still alive.”

As part of the renewed push for information, authorities have released an age-progression photo of what Rachel might look like today.
