Popular 80s rock singer pulled over in Kiowa County on way to concert

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Deputies for the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office shared a funny moment on social media Friday after meeting a pop-rock icon during a traffic stop.

Sergeant Justin Rugg pulled over a vehicle that happened to have 1980s rock star John Waite and his band in it who were on the way to Dodge City to perform at a show.

“I’m not even on cloud 9, I’m on like cloud 12,” said Rugg.

Rugg is a longtime fan of John Waite who performed Friday night at the United Wireless Arena for Dodge City Days.

Waite also shared the photo of the traffic stop on his Facebook page saying he was “pulled over for speeding.”

Waite is best known for his 1984 single Missing You.
