Kanopolis Drive In secures funds for 4K projector
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Kanopolis Drive In said it received funding to secure a new projector.
The drive-in will become the only such theater in Kansas with a 4K laser projector.
“That means brighter images and movie nights that feel even more magical under the stars,” a social media post from the drive-in said.
In October, the theater had its season abruptly and unexpectedly cut short after the projector broke. At the time, owner Jessica Eagle said a new one could cost at least $100,000.
The theater said it secured funding from customers who chose the local option and believed the drive-in is worth saving.
The theater has been open since 1952. The theater is still taking donations on its website.
“It’s been a joy,” said Eagle, who purchased the theater with her husband in 2024. “We love coming here every weekend, and we get to see our regular customers and we get to see new people from all over the place to come and visit our theater.”
