Wichita teen sentenced in deadly drive-by shooting
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita teenager who was 14 when he killed two other teens in a drive-by shooting in 2024 was sentenced on Wednesday.
Elias Cerda was sentenced to 260 months in prison, equivalent of more than 21 years, followed by 36 months’ post-release supervision.
Cerda pleaded guilty last November to voluntary manslaughter, second-degree murder and attempted aggravated robbery.
The drive-by shooting happened in January of 2024, killing 14-year-old Emoni Shears and 19-year-old Jhiquez Roberts.
Cerda was one of five teenagers arrested in the case, but was the only one charged with murder. Cerda was 14 when the shooting happened but is being tried as an adult.
