WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Marion County teacher was arrested after the sheriff’s office said he had sexual contact with a student.

The sheriff’s office received a report of inappropriate communication between the teacher, 30-year-old Brett McGee, and a student on Feb. 23.

With assistance from the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, McGee was arrested on Tuesday after additional evidence was uncovered.

A Brett McGee is listed as a junior high and high school vocational agriculture teacher on the Peabody Schools website.

Supt. Antoinette Root says, “Nothing matters more than the safety and wellbeing of every student in our care. As I’m sure you can understand, confidentiality laws prevent me from sharing any details about a report involving a USD 398 employee or student.”

The investigation is ongoing. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said no additional information will be released at this time.
