KHP identifies man killed after being struck by truck on K-96 near I-235

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - One person is dead after a vehicle hit a pedestrian on a highway in northwest Wichita. The collision happened a little after 11 a.m. on eastbound K-96, near Interstate 235.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a 2019 maroon Chevrolet Silverado was pulling an enclosed trailer on eastbound K-96 at mile marker 285 in the middle lane. A man entered the roadway and was struck by the truck.

The KHP identifed the man as 53-year-old James Butts.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.
