Police identify man killed in weekend shooting outside SW Wichita business, suspect charged with murder
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita Police Department identified a man who died after being shot on Saturday evening outside a laundromat in the 900 block of South Seneca, in southwest Wichita. Police said that 42-year-old Jason Todd died at a local hospital after officers found him severely injured in a parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
On Wednesday, Ronntreal Golston, 26, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. Records show that Golston was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on Sunday.
“Preliminary information indicates the suspect confronted the victim in the parking lot before the shooting. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence,” the Wichita Police Department confirmed in a news release that provided an update in the case, including Todd’s identity. “The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.”
Police confirmed that the arrest in the case happened in the 1800 block of South Euclid, at an address where the Wichita Police SWAT team executed a warrant.
“This arrest was the result of a strong community and technology-led effort. It was made possible through the work of responding officers, investigators, crime scene investigators and professional staff, along with witnesses and community members who stepped forward and provided critical information,” Wichita police said.
