Jayhawk baseball heading to first super regional in program history after win over Arkansas
LAWRENCE, Kan. (KWCH) - Mark another milestone down for the already historic season for the Kansas Jayhawks. KU earned the opportunity to host the first regional in Hoglund Ballpark’s history, and they took full advantage going 3-0 on the weekend including Sunday’s 13-10 win over Arkansas.
Arkansas jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the 3rd inning, but the Jayhawks mounted the comeback quickly scoring six runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead. The Jayhawks scored 11 unanswered runs in their regional championship win.
KU will now head to their first super regional in program history - just two wins away from a College World Series appearance.
The Jayhawks will play the winner of the Atlanta regional which will be decided in a winner-take-all game between Oklahoma and Georgia Tech on Monday. If Oklahoma were to win, Kansas would host the super regional round in Lawrence. If Georgia Tech were to win, the Jayhawks would continue their season in Atlanta.
