Sean Astin shares message of inspiration and positivity with Topeka students

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Renowned actor Sean Astin shared a message of compassion with an excited group of Topeka students.

Astin was in town for a mental health discussion with Advisors Excel. The company also brought out over 120 area high school students to hear from the actor.

Astin’s goal is to spread inspiration and positivity around mental health. He says he found a group Wednesday eager and willing to engage with his message.

“It’s vivifying,” Astin said. “It makes you feel alive when you see people who are ready to absorb what it is you have to share. Maybe I’m remembering my youth differently, but they just seem hungry for positivity, for guidance, for inspiration. So, our spirits will have a bit of an exchange, that’s what it feels like to me. It feels spiritual.”

Astin believes it can helpful to hear assurance from someone outside your immediate vicinity, especially in a world filled with activity and influence.
