Great Bend’s Cooper Ohnmacht commits to K-State football

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - For just the second time since 2004, the top rated football prospect in the state of Kansas is headed to Kansas State. Sunday night, Great Bend star Cooper Ohnmacht committed to stay in his home state and play for Collin Klein. The news was first reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett on X.

Ohnmacht is a 4-star safety prospect (listed as ATH) and rated the No. 1 player in the state of Kansas in 2027, per 247 rankings.

The Great Bend star picked Kansas State over the rest of his top six schools that included Kansas, Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Vanderbilt.

If he signs with the university, Ohnmacht will now joins Maize alum Avery Johnson in being No. 1 players in the state of Kansas to sign to K-State since 2004.
