Kansas first graders take special field trip to support classmate’s adoption

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Olpe Schools celebrated a major milestone for one of its students last week.

Located in the Southern Lyon County School District, the USD 252 school shared the special moment on Facebook.

“Today, our 1st graders got to take a pretty special field trip to support their classmate as he celebrated his adoption!”

The boy’s mother tells the Emporia Gazette he insisted on all of his friends being there.

“We asked him, you know, were there certain people he wanted to invite to be there? And one of the very first answers he had was all of his friends from school,” she told the newspaper. “I said, okay, so is that like just a couple? He’s like, no, I want my whole class.”
