Man sentenced to more than 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to 2 deadly shootings in downtown Wichita
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A 56-year-old Wichita man faces a little more than 30 years in prison in connection with a pair of deadly shootings in downtown Wichita, one in September of 2024 and the second in June of this year. The 363-month (30 years, three months) sentence for Kevin Buggs follows his guilty plea in both cases.
Buggs was already facing a first-degree murder charge for the June fatal shooting of 59-year-old Stevie Young when he faced an additional voluntary manslaughter charge in the death of 50-year-old Ronnie Wallace a little more than two years ago.
In the most recent case from June involving the murder charge, Young was found dead inside his car near the downtown Wichita YMCA. Buggs was arrested a short time later.
In the first case, later pinned on Buggs, Wallace was killed in September 2024 in the 600 block of North Topeka.
