New charge against woman accused in Wichita decapitation
UPDATE (4.19.17): Rachel Hilyard, the woman accused of decapitating a woman earlier this month, faces a new charge.
Hilyard is now charged with trafficking contraband in a correctional institution, in addition to the other crimes.
She made her first appearance on the new charge last week.
The woman accused of attacking and decapitating a 63-year-old woman on Sunday made her first appearance in court on Wednesday.
Rachael Hilyard, 35, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Micki Davis.
Prosecutors say Hilyard attacked Davis at a home near Rita and Elizabeth (Pawnee and Seneca) on Sunday. Davis and her grandson were there to pick up property that belonged to her son.
Davis' grandson was able to get away and call 911. He did not witness his grandmother's mother.
Police say Hilyard and Davis' son were in a former relationship.
Hilyard's next court date is scheduled for April 26 at 9:00 a.m. Her bond is set at $200,000.
