Man facing murder charge in shooting death of Larned doctor
LARNED, Kan. (KWCH) - Update Wednesday, April 3: A man arrested in connection with Saturday’s deadly shooting of a Larned doctor made his first court appearance Wednesday. Michael Reynolds, 67, of Pawnee County, faces a second-degree murder charge in the shooting that killed 52-year-old Dr. Tomas Garza. Reynolds is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a weekend shooting in Pawnee County that killed a man identified as a Larned doctor. Law enforcement arrested a man in the case being investigated as a homicide.
A news release from the KBI said about 5 p.m. Saturday, Michael Reynolds, 67, of Larned shot 52-year-old Dr. Tomas Garza multiple times during an argument. The shooting happened at an address in the 1200 block of Kansas Highway 19 South, in rural Pawnee County. The KBI said Garza died from his injuries at an area hospital.
Reynolds was arrested at the scene for second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Pawnee County Jail where the KBI said, formal charges are pending.
