TBT Wichita Regional: Aftershocks, Mass Street advance to second round

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The opening round of The Basketball Tournament’s Wichita Regional took place Saturday. Here’s a recap of the action:

Aftershocks 86, Midtown Prestige 71

The Wichita State alumni team raced out to a 19-4 lead after the end of the first quarter and never looked back.

Markis McDuffie led the Aftershocks with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting while former Hutch Salthawk Caleb Walker added 12 off the bench.

Jeremiah Martin added 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Conner Frankamp finished with 10 points.

Former Shocker Gus Okafor scored 18 points for Midtown.

Team Colorado 71, Purple Reign 67

The Kansas State alums took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter but couldn’t close it out, bowing out of TBT after one game.

Jacob Pullen scored 14 of the team’s first 18 points, but was held to three points the remainder of the game on 4-of-12 shooting. Kamau Stokes finished with 14 points.

Mass Street 81, Ram Up 68

Frank Mason III scored 20 points, Billy Preston chipped in 18 and Dedric Lawson was one rebound shy of a double-double in a dominant showing by the KU alums.

They led 19-9 after one quarter and outscored the opponent 25-13 in the third quarter.

Next up

Mass Street will face Florida TNT at 6 p.m. Monday for a spot in the regional final.

The Aftershocks will face Team Colorado at 8 p.m. on FS1.
