MCPHERSON, Kan. (KWCH) - A women’s soccer coach has been arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual crimes in McPherson.

Police arrested Joshua Macharia on two counts of aggravated sexual battery by force or fear. He is the head coach of the Central Christian College of Kansas women’s soccer team in McPherson.

Macharia has been released on a $20,000 bond.

As of Wednesday night, the college said Macharia is on administrative leave pending a full investigation. He is also restricted from campus and prohibited from contacting students during the investigation.

“As an institution rooted in Christian faith and a deep commitment to the wellbeing of our students, we are profoundly saddened and grieved by these accusations,” said CCCK Chief Strategic Operations Officer Doug Vanderhoof in the statement. “Our primary concern is the safety and support of our students and we remain steadfast in our resolve to uphold our values and maintain a safe, respectful environment for all members of our community.”
